ATANA Head Spa is offers a luxury experience, featuring detailed scalp assessments, aromatherapy, therapeutic massages and rejuvenating facials – all designed to help you, and your hair feel your best.
ATANA Head Spa was born out of founder Jenesis Laforcade own personal story. For years, she struggled with psoriasis – a skin condition that caused her persistent scalp dryness and discomfort. Determined to find relief, she began creating her own treatments, using plant-based remedies and turning to Ayurvedic rituals to help her find a solution. This journey towards her own health and wellness turned into a haven for modern wellness and ancient techniques for others.
Jenesis drew on her personal experience and professional background in marketing and branding to bring her vision to life. Recognizing that she couldn’t do it alone, she looked around her for complementary strengths that would help her business thrive. She brought on her brother, Jaryd and his financial background to serve as CFO, and her best friend Mabel, who’s operational experience made her the perfect COO. Together, this well-rounded team was on its way to opening ATANA’s first location – but another challenge remained.
The ATANA team quickly learned what many new entrepreneurs discover – traditional banks and lending institutions would not fund their new business. Without two years of financial records or proven revenue, securing the necessary capital seemed impossible. This was until a simple Google search led them to discover Prestamos CDFI.
As a Community Development Financial Institution, Prestamos is able work with aspiring entrepreneurs and offer capital solutions for start-ups, providing opportunities for new ventures to launch and grow. Our team believed in ATANA and recognized the potential for new jobs and economic development this business had to offer. Prestamos worked with them to secure a $70,000 Small Business Loan. In addition to a line of credit, ATANA also received business advising, such a marketing guidance and financial support.
Since opening their doors, ATANA has flourished! To meet growing demand and scale their business, the team recently opened a second location in Scottsdale, Arizona. With no plans to slow down, they are already looking towards the future and exploring a third location, with the hopes of expanding into California or Nevada. With big plans on the horizon, the ATANA team can feel confident that Prestamos CDFI will remain by their side, ready to invest in their success every step of the way.
